AN HONEST EXPLORATION OF LIVING WITH DEMENTIA
Demenstoria is an artistic exploration of living with dementia. Originally commissioned in 2014 by the Forget‐me‐ not Chorus and Welsh National Opera its first life was as a song cycle of the poetry you see here today. For most people little is known and quite a lot is feared about living with dementia. For the Forget‐me‐not Chorus it is the stuff of daily life. Each day brings encounters with the particular difficulties, the pleasures, the new learning, the challenges, the laughs, the losses, the absurdities, frustrations, pain and love. Through photography, poetry, song and spoken word we hope this exhibition will de‐mystify and celebrate those who live with, or alongside, dementia.
This exhibition is their story and this exhibition is dedicated to them.
